TRENDS Group, with its new corporate identity and five companies, has begun participating in the 35th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). Through its pavilion, No. (2D05), the Group is showcasing more than 500 diverse research publications, including original and translated books, as well as specialized academic series that explore the future and analyze pressing regional and international issues.
Coinciding with the fair’s opening, which runs until September 18, TRENDS Group held a signing ceremony for two new research publications on artificial intelligence and political Islam. H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council, and Gvantsa Jobava, President of the International Publishers Association, attended the ceremony alongside several officials, researchers, and academics.
Political Islam in Malaysia
The TRENDS pavilion hosted the signing of The Muslim Brotherhood in Malaysia: Intellectual Roots, Local Adaptation, Structural Contradictions, and the Decline of Political Function, authored by Badriya Hilal Al Rayami, Principal Researcher and Director of the Political Islam Department at TRENDS. The signing was attended by H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council، And Her Excellency Shadha Al Mulla, Assistant Undersecretary for the National Identity and Arts Sector at the Ministry of Culture.
The study examines the Muslim Brotherhood’s experience in Malaysia and the limits of the Islamist project as it enters a pluralistic nation-state. It explains that the Brotherhood’s presence in Malaysia did not emerge from a direct organizational extension, but rather from selective intellectual and activist influence transmitted through educational channels, student movements, and elites returning from the Middle East.
The study’.concludes that the future of Brotherhood-oriented Islamism in Malaysia is moving toward a “functional decline.
Publishing and Book Fairs in the Age of AI
The TRENDS pavilion also hosted the signing of Publishing and Book Fairs in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, authored by Rawda Al Marzouqi, Head of the Distribution and Book Fairs Sector at TRENDS Group. The ceremony was attended by Gvantsa Jobava, President of the International Publishers Association, And Dr. Lulwa Al Marzouqi, Vice Undersecretary of New York University Abu Dhabi. along with several publishing and book fair professionals and specialists.
The book examines transformations in the publishing industry and book fairs, including the shift from traditional models to digital and predictive structures driven by big data. It also explores how these technologies reduce costs and address intellectual property challenges. It also highlights the UAE experience as a model for integrating artificial intelligence into major book fairs to support the knowledge economy and align with the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071, while emphasizing the importance of balancing technological innovation with human creativity.
Attendance and Recognition
The TRENDS pavilion, designed this year to reflect the Group’s new identity and developed to the highest technical and visual standards, drew strong interest during the fair’s opening hours. Officials, researchers, academics, and members of the public visited the pavilion to explore the Group’s latest publications and intellectual contributions.
Visitors praised TRENDS’ extensive, diverse scientific output and its focus on contemporary challenges. They also commended its role in supporting young researchers and equipping them with the tools needed for rigorous scientific research.
