TRENDS in New York … Research and Media Discussions , and Knowledge Partnerships

As part of its efforts to strengthen its global research presence and expand its international strategic partnerships, a delegation from TRENDS Research & Advisory conducted a series of high-level meetings in New York City, United States.

The delegation included Nasser Mohamed Al Ali, Executive Director of TRENDS Group, and Abdulaziz Al-Shehhi, Senior Researcher and Deputy General Manager of TRENDS Research & Advisory.

Supporting International Efforts for the Water Conference

The delegation began its visit at the Consulate General of the UAE in New York, where it met with H.E. Amna Ali Hamad Al Mehairi, Consul General of the UAE in New York. Discussions focused on issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen cooperation in research and knowledge initiatives.

During the meeting, the delegation presented the outcomes of its recent international collaborations, including an overview and a copy of the United Nations Policy Paper, as well as a strategic research project undertaken by TRENDS Research & Advisory in partnership with the Geneva Water Hub and PED-Senegal. The paper has been submitted to the United Nations, in collaboration with UN-Water and the UN Water Convention, to contribute to international preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, to be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal.

Media Partnerships and Global Outreach

As part of the visit, TRENDS’ Media Sector visited The New York Times’ headquarters in New York to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on several key areas, including mechanisms to enhance the presence of TRENDS researchers across leading international media platforms, enabling them to share regional perspectives and expert analysis, as well as opportunities to establish a sustainable media partnership between the two sides.

Cooperation with New York University

As part of its efforts to build bridges of cooperation with leading global academic institutions, the TRENDS delegation visited New York University (NYU), where it met with Ms. Liria Gjidija, Director of Global Programs and Engagement at NYU and Head of the University’s Social Responsibility.

The meeting featured productive discussions on prospects for joint scientific research, avenues for exchanging expertise between the two sides, and opportunities to launch collaborative research and community initiatives that support the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen the role of scientific research in addressing pressing issues at both the regional and international levels.
