H.E. Sir Liam Fox

A British politician and former physician. He studied medicine at the University of Glasgow and worked as a general practitioner in the UK National Health Service for nearly ten years, while also serving as a doctor in the Army Reserve. He was elected Member of Parliament for North Somerset in 1992 and remained in office until 2024. He served as Secretary of State for Defence in David Cameron’s government from 2010 to 2011, and later became the first Secretary of State for International Trade from 2016 to 2019 following the Brexit referendum, leading efforts to expand the United Kingdom’s global trade partnerships. He is known for emphasizing the relationship between national security and economic prosperity through free trade. He authored Rising Tides: Facing the Challenges of a New Era in 2013, examining geopolitical and economic shifts in the international system. In 2023, he was awarded a knighthood (“Sir”) in recognition of his contributions to public and political life.
