A delegation from TRENDS Global, part of TRENDS Group, held an extensive dialogue session in Paris with several members of the Club de Madrid, chaired by Ms. María Elena Agüero, the Club’s Secretary General.
The session focused on strengthening research and academic cooperation, exchanging views and expertise on mechanisms to dismantle extremist narratives and address the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood, and exploring opportunities to build strategic partnerships that help address the intellectual challenges facing the international community.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, Chairman of the TRENDS Group Board of Directors, who led the TRENDS delegation, emphasized that cooperation with prestigious international institutions such as the Club de Madrid, a global forum bringing together former heads of state and government, represents an important pillar of TRENDS’ strategy to strengthen research partnerships and exchange knowledge and expertise. He also highlighted the important role think tanks and research institutions play in countering extremism, promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence, and disseminating reliable knowledge.
María Elena Agüero commended TRENDS’ research efforts, stressing the importance of exchanging expertise with the Center’s researchers and experts, particularly in studying political Islam and countering the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood. She noted that think tanks and research institutions play an important role in building bridges of dialogue and promoting tolerance and coexistence. She also praised the outcomes of the Sixth Annual TRENDS Forum on Political Islam, which was held at the House of Lords in London and the French Senate in Paris.
The Club de Madrid is a global forum that brings together former heads of state and government to promote democracy and good governance worldwide, and to support dialogue and international cooperation in ways that contribute to peace and stability.
