Afomiya Ayalew Mitiku

Afomiya Ayalew Mitiku is a Master of Arts candidate at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, specializing in Diplomacy and Africa’s International Relations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations and brings professional experience spanning research, journalism, communications, and civil society engagement. This interdisciplinary background has equipped her with a broad perspective on contemporary political and economic affairs and their interconnected dynamics at the domestic, regional, and international levels.

In 2026, Afomiya completed a research internship with TRENDS Research and Advisory in Abu Dhabi, where she conducted comparative research on the foreign policy orientations of Ethiopia and Kenya from 2012 to 2026. Her research interests center on diplomacy, development policy, and Africa’s evolving role in regional and global affairs.
