The state visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany from 9 to 11 September 2026 marked an important moment in the evolution of UAE–German relations. As the first state visit to Germany by a UAE president, it carried considerable diplomatic significance. More importantly, the visit demonstrated that the relationship is expanding beyond traditional economic cooperation toward a broader strategic partnership encompassing investment, energy, technology, defence and diplomacy.

At the heart of the visit was the announcement of a new Strategic Dialogue, building on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2004. The dialogue is designed to deepen cooperation across security and defence, trade and investment, energy and climate, emerging technologies, digitalisation, transport, environment, culture and education. Its breadth reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of the relationship and creates a framework for regular political coordination and practical cooperation.
